SNOW PRINCESS HOLIDAY TEA PARTY
Dress-up in beautiful princess gowns, shimmering (age appropriate) make-up, have a mini-manicure with gold or silver glitter polish. Then enjoy story time with the Snow Princess followed by a tea party! There will even be a miniature etiquette lesson led by Jane Cook. Everyday Art is pleased to offer a special drawing and painting instruction series beginning October 9th. You'll find details below followed by our fall arts & crafts class offerings, Rock~Paper~Scissors.

Everyday Art is privileged to present the 10-week series…
Painting to Improve at Every Level
with Richard Copeland

It has been said that 10,000 hours of practice are required to perfect a craft, raising it to the level of art. No matter what you imagine your level to be - beginning, intermediate, or advanced - if you feel the need for growth and improvement - this course is for you.

We will examine every element that makes a painting a painting, while honing our critical thinking skills:

size
shape
surface
under painting, and why
composition
drama
contrast
palette
tensions
some color theory
positive & negative interchange
the hook
misdirection
and, finally:
the Idea - getting the viewer into your head

All of the above points were accumulated from five years at one of the country’s finest art schools - the Corcoran, and years of studio application. In this class, we will move from the charcoal sketch to the use of acrylics in a technique of washes and layers. A materials list will be discussed at the first session.
Visual art is found in every aspect of our designed environment: apart from nature in its undeveloped form, nothing can be found that wasn’t touched by an artist!

From Drawing to Painting, for Kids
with Richard Copeland

This class is for young people age 9 and above. We will follow a format similar to the one described for adults. Each student will progress at his/her own pace - so each student may begin this class from whatever level of experience they have at the moment.

Drawing skills and practice will be emphasized, and will determine each student’s readiness to paint.

CLASS SCHEDULE & FEE:
This class series is scheduled for Thursdays beginning October 9th through December 18th (We will not meet on November 27 for the Thanksgiving holiday.)

Adults will meet from 6-8 pm fee: $150
Youth will meet from 4-5:30 pm fee: $120

Registration is required. You may pay ½ the total fee upon registration or on the first day of class with the balance due November 13.

Creative Arts & Crafts Classes

Rock~Paper~Scissors Creative Arts and Craft Classes are organized so you can chose those that interest you and explore new creative outlets. Most classes are introductory and require no previous experience. All supplies included unless otherwise noted. Clay projects are fired off-site and returned to the gallery to pick up – usually within 2 weeks. Our classroom is located upstairs. Classes marked (All ages) are appropriate for young children when accompanied by an adult.

Watercolor Workshop by Patricia Coleman

Spend the day exploring the creative medium of watercolor painting with accomplished watercolor artist and teacher, Patricia Coleman.

A pre-drawn image will be provided in order to assist beginning and intermediate students in this hands-on workshop. Demonstration and instruction will focus on wet-on-wet techniques, shading, and washes.

The very small class size will provide an excellent atmosphere to understand and experience the start-to-finish process of watercolor painting.

Jim and Dottie Talley are hosting their Farm House Pottery Holiday Open House and Sale at Everyday Art this year. (December 8, 9 & 10.) Their regular Open House schedule will be Friday 10-7, Saturday 10-4 and Sunday 1-5. They will also celebrate their 50th Anniversary on Thanksgiving Day!

We are located in a 2-story renovated building constructed in 1956 at 209 SW Market Street in downtown Reidsville, North Carolina. Our ‘new’ building exists beside buildings built before the turn of the century by the railroad tracks. This historic area is an emerging art district populated with studio space, an art gallery and antique stores. Specialty shops, boutiques and restaurants are located nearby.

Our street-level gallery represents a large variety of artists whose art forms include paintings, pottery, metal work, stained glass, textiles, collage, sculpture, painted furniture, mosaics. Functional, decorative works, whimsical, folk and outsider art are mixed with beautiful and thought-provoking styles both traditional and experimental.
